Sugarwhizz - How to model a whale

Modelling Paste-

​

-128g Light blue 

- 7g Lilac 

- 2g Dark Blue 

- 1g White 

- 1g Black

Small Balling tool (Cerart 502)

Medium Balling tool (Cerart 501)

Dresden tool (Cerart 301)

Rolling pin

Small paintbrush for gluing

Small paintbrush for painting.

Sharp knife

Paint palette

Small amount of clear alcohol for painting 

Cool boiled water (for gluing things together)

 

Step one - Body

Take 125g of light blue modelling paste and roll into a teardrop.

Roll the end of the teardrop to thin and lengthen the paste.

Bend the tail upwards as shown.

Roll out 7g of lilac paste to around 1mm thick, and shape as shown.

Apply a small amount of water to the back of the lilac paste and stick into place as shown. Use your finger to smooth down the edges.

Using the small balling tool to very lightly indent each side of the whale. These will act as a guide for where to position the smile!

Score the smile from one indent to the other, using the veining end of the Dresden tool.

Score lines on the underside of the body using the veining tool.

Gently indent each eye with the medium balling tool.

Use the small balling tool to indent a smaller hole in each eye as shown.

Roll two tiny balls of black modelling paste and stick into place in each eye.

Use the small balling tool to indent each corner of the mouth.

Use the small balling tool to create the blow hole and a hole for the tail.

Take 2g of blue modelling paste, roll into the shape on the left. Then take a sharp knife and make a cut as shown. Turn the paste around and open up the cut you've just made. Flatten and smooth each tail fin gently with your fingertip. Use the veining end of the dresden tool to score lines on each fin as shown.

Apply a small amount of water to the inside of the hole and stick the tail into place. Gently pinch the tips of the tails into a point.

Take 1g of light blue modelling paste and divide equally into two. Roll each piece into a small teardrop. Flatten the paste with your fingertip. Score lines with the veining end of the Dresden tool. Gently pinch together the ends of the fin.

Use the balling tool to create a shallow hole on each side of the whale. Apply a small amount of water inside of each hole and stick the fins into place as shown.

Roll 2g of dark blue paste, into little teardrop shapes. ( I only used 4 in the end.)

Bend the teardrops over and stick into place around the blowhole.

Mix one drop of violet gel food colouring with two drops of clear alcohol and use it to paint along the grooves on the underside of the whale.

Mix one drop of blue gel food colouring with two drops of clear alcohol and use it to paint along the grooves on the tail, fins and across the smile. 

Finally roll two tiny balls of white modelling paste and stick them into place on each eye.
