Gel Colours- (Sugarflair)

  • Autumn Leaf = Golden brown -Body

  • Dark Brown = Brown -Mane

  • Liquorice = Black - Eyes

  • Ivory = cream - Chest

  • Claret = Pink - Tongue

​

Modelling Paste-

​

- 100g  golden brown modelling paste divided into the following amounts

  • 45g Body

  • 34g Head

  • 20g legs (4 x 5g)

  • 5g Ears (2 x 2.5g)

  • 1g Ears

​

- 20g Dark Brown 

- 9g White 

- 1g Ivory 

- 1g Black 

- 1g Pink 

- 1g Light brown 

Tools -

​

Balling tool

Dresden tool

Rolling pin

Small paintbrush for gluing

Sharp knife

Cool boiled water (for gluing things together)

Paper lolly stick (cake pop stick)

Step one - Body

Take 45g of golden brown modelling paste, roll into a tear drop shape.

Sit on the work surface and gently flatten the top with your finger tip.

Take 2g of cream modelling paste, start by forming a teardrop shape and then roll out to a thickness of around 2mm  and stick into place as shown.

Step two - Legs

Take 8g of white modelling paste and divide equally into four. Roll each piece into a ball.

Roll each ball into a teardrop.

Then take the veining end of the Dresden tool to mark the toes.

Deepen the toes by pressing in gently with a sharp knife.

 

 

Take 10g of golden brown, divide equally into two and roll into sausages.

Take two of the paws and stick to the bottom of each leg as shown.

Take 10g of golden brown, divide equally into two and roll into teardrops. Flatten slightly on one side with your fingertip,

Take the remaining two paws and stick on as shown.

Stick the front two legs on first, keeping the top of the legs level with the top of the body.

Stick the back legs into place as shown.

Take the paper lolly pop stick and carefully push down into the body through the centre of the neck leaving 1-2cm protruding.

Step three - Head

Take 35g of golden brown and roll into a ball. Roll the top of the ball between your thumb and forefinger to narrow the top of the head slightly as shown.

Gently press your finger across the top of the head to indent the paste slightly.

Take the smoothing end of the Dresden tool and push in gently to open the mouth.

Use the veining end of the Dresden tool to mark each side of the mouth.

Mark a small line up from  the centre of the mouth.

Use the smoothing end of the Dresden tool to gently push in at each corner of the mouth as shown.

Use the small end of the balling tool, gently push in and create two eye sockets as shown.

Roll two tiny balls of black modelling paste.

Take a small piece of light brown modelling paste and roll into a sausage that is slightly tapered at each end.

Drop the two eyes into their sockets.

Stick the nose into place as shown.

Take two tiny pieces of dark brown paste. Roll each one into a small sausage, tapered at one end. Stick them into place above the eyes as shown.

Stick the head into place as shown.

Step four - Mane

Take 17g of brown modelling paste and roll into a sausage, that is thickest in the middle as shown. Measure that it will fit all the way around the head by gently placing the sausage against the head. Do not stick into place!

Flatten one edge of the mane by gently pressing along with your finger tip.

Use the veining end of the Dresden tool to gently score and texture the mane. start at the drop and stroke the tool down the paste.

Stick the mane into place. Start in the centre of the head with the centre of the mane and carefully wrap the mane around until it meets under the chin as shown.

Take the remaining 3g of dark brown modelling paste and repeat to make the inner mane. stick into place as shown.

Step five - Ears and finishing touches!

Take two tiny balls of golden brown modelling paste, roll each one into a teardrop and flatten with your fingertip.

Use the tip of the veining end of the Dresden tool to mark a line in the centre of each ear as shown.

Cut the bottom of each ear off with a sharp knife as shown,

Stick the ears into place as shown.

Roll two tiny white balls of paste and stick into place on the eyes as shown.

Roll a tiny ball of pink paste into a teardrop and flatten with your fingertip, stick into the mouth as shown
